Hip-Hop superstars hop to the tele to vote
You may have been one of the over 1.3 million viewers to have seen the Vote For It! 08 video online. But if not, you can bet that you’ll most likely see the new celebrity-ridden PSA on TV.
That’s because Time Warner Cable has just hopped on the “Get Out the Youth Vote” bandwagon to distribute the web-based PSA to CNN, MTV, BET, and VH1.
The video, which includes a horde of hip-hop stars including Russell Simmons, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, and Ciara, encourages young people to empower themselves by exercising their most basic right: the right to vote.
Wow; if big time cable giants are now distributing political material that was originally published online, doesn’t this just go to prove how powerful and effective the web is today?! Looks like the Internet is now one of the new major contenders in political awareness and activity!
Obama and McCain… are you listening?? (hint hint)
