Are you ready to step up for service this year? Well, Hollywood is! Yesterday in San Francisco Jon Bon Jovi and Matthew McConaughey came out to represent The Entertainment Industry Foundation and announce a new, nationwide service initiative.
The two star spokesmen introduced the multi-year campaign that launches October 19th of this year to an audience of service leaders like First Lady Michelle Obama and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at "The National Conference for Service and Volunteering."
The campaign will work to make service and volunteerism a national priority. Together, these two are totally rocking Obama’s call to action earlier this year when he signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act.
And you gotta admit--these two are perfect to represent Hollywood’s philanthropy. Jon fights against homelessness and poverty across the country with his Philadelphia Soul Charitable Foundation. Matthew’s organization—the j.klivin foundation—works to bring after-school fitness and wellness programs to underserved communities.
So get off your butt this summer and get into action! There is so much you can do. Hold a school supply drive and donate the goods to Do Something 101. Then sit back and relax with some free ice cream from Baskin Robbins. And don’t forget to tell us what you think of Jon and Matt’s call to action--comment below!
