Jason Mraz loves grandmas!

Jason Mraz

Sure you know Jason Mraz from his catchy songs like his latest hit “I’m Yours,” but did you know that the singer songwriter is a vegan and an environmentalist? He has also decided to team up with a group of 13 diverse elderly women to save our planet.

You may be wondering how this young, hot singer/songwriter decided to spend his time hanging out with 13 old ladies instead of some of the young Hollywood starlets. There is more to this guy than you think.

He has thrown his full-blown support behind “13 Indigenous Grandmothers,” a group of elderly women who come from all around the world. The group has pledged to “bring balance to Mother Earth and all her inhabitants for the next seven generations to come [by using] the teachings of our ancestors.”

Mraz has been humbled by the selfless goals of the group and their deep connection to the environment and the earth. They aim to “protect [their] diverse cultures: lands, medicines, language and ceremonial ways of prayer and through projects that educate and nurture [their] children.”

And Mraz has teamed up with these lovely ladies to work towards a sustainable future for our planet. In his blog, he asks, “Are you choosing to think it’s too late to save the planet because you’re not seeing immediate results? Are you personally choosing not to change your diet and bad habits because you think it will make this week suck?”

He compares these important changes to planting a tree in that you may not personally benefit from it, but future generations will. This is important to remember when doing any environmental work. Just as pollution is a quiet, slow moving process, so is the act of cleaning up decades of damage!

Jason Mraz wants you to act now...seriously he means NOW: “…think of that distant you in the future who will look back and hug you for the powerful shift in consciousness you decided to make right now,” he tells his blog readers.

We all have the power to change our energy-intensive ways, so we should jump on the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers’ bandwagon to live for the future, not just for the present. I mean, come on, when have your grandmas ever been wrong?

What do you think about Jason’s efforts? Are veganism and ancient wisdom the way to go? Comment below!
