Joel Madden is shouting out to his friend Emile Hirsch to help him spread the word about an event going on around the world on April 25th called “The Rescue.” 100 cities in nine countries will rally together to help the non-profit Invisible Children bring awareness to kidnapped child soldiers in Uganda and the Congo.
He tells his friend that “we need people with a lot of influence who are cool and stylish, just as yourself buddy.” We give Joel extra points for sweet talking him. “Believe me Emile, if you come to the rescue, people will notice.” CGG agrees with that!
Why Emile? Well, like Joel, Emile has been volunteering in Africa throughout his career. Madden visited the Central African Republic for UNICEF's Tap Project, and Hirsch, 24, traveled to refugee camps in the Congo with Oxfam.
Kirsten Dunst will attend the Los Angeles rally and has already made a video plea to Ellen DeGeneres to come out and join them. Ryan Gosling will make an appearance in New York and Pete Wentz is expected in Washington, D.C.
But the Invisible Children campaign starts with you! They are asking everyone across the country to upload video messages on YouTube, calling out their role models and favorite stars to participate in "The Rescue." So do something about it!
