Even stars need a vacation once in awhile—I mean being rich and famous isn’t as easy as you might think. And who would know it better than Johnny Depp? The dreamy actor shows his beachy side on the cover of July’s Vanity Fair and tells all about life on his very own Caribbean island called “Little Hall’s Pond Cay.”
But he isn’t just showing off his wealth, he’s showing off his eco-savy skills as well. Back when he bought the island in 2005 he was inspired to keep it green by his friend and acting legend Marlon Brando who owns his own island off of Tahiti.
“I don’t think I'd ever seen any place so pure and beautiful,” says Johnny of his get away. And he plans on keeping it that way! He has taken the steps to make sure his house runs on clean energy. He even commissioned a grid-independent solar hydrogen system from Mike Strizki—the inventor of the nation’s first solar-hydrogen house!
The family man even plans on passing on his green sensibility to his kids who he spends time with “learning about sea life and how to protect sea life.” How cute?? You can help keep your favorite green and blue areas clean by creating a petition in your community to reduce carbon emissions and become an activist who advocates energy conservation!
