Katharine McPhee is hunger-free

...and she wishes the same for children everywhere. Unfortunately, the end of the academic year leaves some underprivileged children wondering where their next meals will come from now that school is out for the summer. Last week, Katharine McPhee took action by launching a Hunger-Free Summer initiative to let kids know she wants to help fight hunger.

The singer volunteered in Orlando to join Feeding America on its way to close the hunger gap. The organization, whose food banks across the country help provide meals to children in need, aims to supply one million meals this summer with the Hunger-Free Summer initiative. As a start, the ConAgra Foods Foundation is also making a $5 million donation to the initiative.

McPhee will make visits to other Feeding America food banks around the country this month, raising awareness about the domestic hunger problem and singing with children served by local hunger centers.
