Katy Rocks the Ribbon

Katy Perry REDvia fmradio.com

In the past year, Katy Perry has blown up the pop scene with her crazy costumes and chart topping singles! Now, she’s using her popularity to help a world epidemic that’s even bigger than she is. She has been performing for (RED)Nights--Bono’s HIV/AIDS benefit concerts that have been rocking every big city in the country.

The latest (RED)Night show took the Hammersmith Ballroom in New York by storm on Tuesday. Katy is among many artists featured in the show including Fall Out Boy, The Veronicas, O.A.R., Santigold and more. They have been rocking it for RED—the signature color of the HIV/AIDS awareness movement—since June.

Each night’s show turns the powerful music in powerful action. Funds raised by the show go towards buying and distributing antiretroviral AIDS medication to people living with HIV in Africa where the virus is most widespread. Out of the 33 million people living with HIV/AIDS across the world 27.7 million are in Africa.

So get your (RED) on and do something about it! Check out the (RED)Nights shows and spread the word about the cause. Pass out HIV/AIDS awareness info at your school and represent with some red ribbons.
