This star is proving that community service is not just for celebrity convicts (jumpsuits are so blah). Former American Idol contestant and country singer Kellie Pickler has a good sense of style and she’s using it. Pickler has decided to drive her cause home with shoes—a shoe drive that is.

This Thursday, August 27, Pickler will be performing at her BFF Taylor Swift’s concert at Madison Square Garden, and what’s a good concert without a charity event to boot?  Pickler has teamed up with Soles4Souls, a charity that provides free footwear to people in need around the globe, to collect new and gently worn shoes at the entrance to the Garden form 5:00 pm-9:00 pm on the day of the concert!

Since its founding, Soles4Souls has donated approximately one pair of shoes every 13 seconds (woah!), which adds up to about 5 million pairs of shoes distributed to people in over 125 countries!

As Pickler shared with Soles4Souls, “I love shoes but they are more than just a fashion statement, they are a necessity and not everyone has access to them because of financial reasons or natural disaster.” A life without shoes is too much to bare!

And Pickler isn’t the first celeb to work with Soles4Souls.  Some fellow do-gooders include Scarlett Johansson, Zach Braff, Jessica Simpson, and many other note-worthy peeps!  If you’re going to the concert, don’t forget to bring along a pair of shoes or two (and, of course, your ticket), and if you can’t make it to MSG this time around, you can still get involved in this awesome initiative by setting up a shoe drive of your own!
