Lance: a champ on and off the bike

Fresh off yet another rigorous race in the Tour de France, Lance Armstrong isn’t kicking back quite yet. Instead, he’s helped some injured fellow cyclists get back on their feet (or pedals that is!).

The seven-time Tour de France champ, who has raised millions for cancer research through his org Livestrong, dedicated the 16th stage of this year’s tour to a five cyclists who were hit by a minivan in Canada last month. Although four of them have been released from the hospital, a fifth is still recovering and is said to be in a coma.

When Lance was stateside again, he put his money where his mouth was, donated he bib he wore on the Tour to an auction, and his garb raked in $5,000 to help replace damaged gear and pay for hospital bills. Just goes to show you don’t have to be pedaling to be paying it forward!

Feeling sporty? The average American kid gets less than an hour of physical activity a day! So, make like Lance, and help other people get fit and healthy too.
