Do you have a story to tell about HIV/AIDS? Do you know someone who’s been affected by the disease? Well it wouldn't be a surprise to us, because just last year, youth between the ages of 15-24 accounted for nearly half of all new infections.
That’s why MTV Networks International has teamed up with MySpace to launch Untold Stories, promoting HIV awareness.
Untold Stories, which is spearheaded by MTV’s global AIDS awareness campaign, Staying Alive, is a groundbreaking, interactive story-telling competition that involves acclaimed authors, actors, musicians, and YOU to complete the story.
It works like this: Well known authors and writers including Gautam Malkani and Jimmy Jean Louis have all contributed unique short stories to the project. Then celebrities like Selma Blair, Ludacris, Idris Elba, and Ashley Judd have lent their voices to the authors’ pieces to bring them to life on video. But the stories have all purposely been left unfinished. That’s because MTV and MySpace is giving YOU the chance to write your own ending for the story.
The winning script will be made into a short film and will air on MTV on World AIDS Day, Dec. 1. On top of this, the winner will also get the incredible opportunity of presenting the film at a World Aids Day event in India.
“I’m honored to be involved in such an innovative project. Not only is it a great interactive way for young people to learn about such an important issue, it also allows them to think about it from different perspectives. I believe that it’s everyone’s duty to be involved in this fight,” said Ludacris.
What are you waiting for? Get on over to www.myspace.com/mtvuntoldstories to get in your submissions by the Sept. 2 deadline! Be part of one of the most creative ways we’ve ever heard of getting the word out about HIV/AIDS.
