Matchbox 20 singer Rob Thomas recently rescued two malnourished horses out of 17 of these abused animals from Albany, NY through the local Pets Alive charity. Thanks to the saving grace of Rob, Pets Alive was able to care for the pair, Baxter and Carrie, and nurse them back to health.

But due to an unfortunate change of events, a court case two weeks ago just ruled that the original abusive owner could have her choice of taking six of her original horses back. As fate would have it, she chose to take back Baxter and Carrie from Pets Alive.

In an effort to reclaim these formerly neglected creatures, Pets Alive offered the owner $2000, but she refused to settle for anything under double this amount. After offering her this proposed $4000, the owner proceeded to deny the settlement. Pets Alive has since offered this woman $10,000, but they have been repeatedly turned down!

"Now we just want to do whatever we can to keep [the horses] safe," Rob told The Daily News. "We know people with a lot of land who are able to take the horses, and our offer of $10,000 is still on the table."

Advocating for maltreated animals isn't new territory for Rob, who established the Sidewalk Angels Foundation to aid the less fortunate in major cities around the US by partnering with various charities to help people who get lost in the system, those who are unable to afford medical care, and abandoned or abused animals.

In order to resolve this inhumane issue, Rob is asking everyone to support his efforts by contacting the judge who's presiding over this case to get your voices heard. You can contact this judge by writing to www.blackriverstable.com Re.: Judge Rechen of Berlin Town Court.
