Former Wimbledon and U.S. Open Champion, John McEnroe, plans on selling an Andy Warhol portrait of himself and his ex-wife, actress Tatum O’Neal. She made headlines at age 10 for becoming one of the youngest people to win an Academy Award for her groundbreaking Paper Moon role, but also made headlines only a few weeks ago for a Lower East Side drug-bust. With her Hollywood upbringing she has been battling drugs for years, but with this last blunder, has vowed to come clean. That’s still not stopping McEnroe from selling the painting, but he's putting the proceeds to good.
The portrait was painted from a Polaroid that was taken right after they got married. In 1986, McEnroe paid $30,000 for it at a charity auction. Now, the acrylic and silkscreen portrait is valued at over half a million dollars and will hit the Sotheby’s auction block in London on July 1. All of the proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity.
