Linkin Park, known for their music mash-ups, has found the perfect combo: fantastic music and saving the world. The band that earned its reputation by remixing their rocker tunes with rapper Jay Z’s lyrics is mixing up their charity "Music for Life" by offering you a chance to partake AND meet the band.

The Linkin Park boys are utilizing their online resource SocialVibe to help raise funds to provide hurricane aid to Haiti. David "Phoenix" Farrell (Linkin Park's awesome bassist) said, "We're helping to ensure that they're better prepared to deal with future hurricanes and floods. In addition to collecting funds, we're using a site called SocialVibe for the first time to earn money for the food and clean drinking water that the people of Haiti so desperately need." By adding socialvibe.com/musicforrelief to your webpage (myspace, facebook, etc.) you will be contributing. Whoever adds the most friends to their page by April 24th wins a trip to hang out with them in the studio. Pretty easy right?

Linkin Park has been rockin' our world since 2005 when they started their Music for Life organization to mobilize the music industry towards natural disaster relief efforts worldwide! The band was inspired to take real action after the tsunami disaster in South Asia in 2004. They partnered up with a diverse group of musician supporters including Jay Z, Taking Back Sunday, Yellowcard, Paulina Rubio, Enrique Iglesias, Michelle Branch, Chris Rock, Ozzy Osbourne. Together, these performers are working together to raise funds to rebuild with an emphasis on housing, education programs and resources.

With Music for Relief, this cool band has provided millions of dollars worth of aid to help different areas around the world recover from the various, horrendous natural disasters that have occurred these past couple of years. After taking care of South Asia, the band moved on to tackle more projects. Since 2005, Linkin Park has raised over $3 million, (95% of which went directly to disaster relief and environmental programs) to fund the creation of homes in post-Katrina New Orleans, to provide aid to survivors of Cyclone Nargis in Burma, to help China recover from its earthquakes, and to reduce global warming.

In 2008 alone, Linkin Park reduced and offset 882 tons of emissions from its tour buses/plane rides, and funded the planting of 330,000 trees in North America (which will sequester over 111,000 tons of the potent greenhouse gas, carbon. Plus, they're selling cool tee-shirts made from sustainable materials!

Want to help? Apply for a Disaster Grant! Or, if you're more interested in stopping future natural disasters from bashing our poor planet, why not pledge to do all you can to stop global warming? If Linkin Park can do it, so can you!
