M.I.A is fulfilling her duties as a citizen of Great Britain and more! She is even going out of her way to make sure her candidate wins—offering a free song for people who vote for her!

And who is this candidate with support from a star? Her name is Jan Jananayagam and she is an independent British candidate in the current European Parliament Elections, which take place June 4-7. Like M.I.A, Jananayagam is opposed to the war in Sri Lanka and has been lobbying the British government to intervene.

She is also the first female Asian independent candidate to stand in for the European Elections. And M.I.A made sure to update her myspace to let the world know she means business with this election. “VOTE FOR JAN JANA!!!”
