Miley's making faces

Miss Miley Cyrus is getting hit pretty hard by the media for yet another scandalous photo. But this time, it may be more serious than showing a little skin.

She has recently been exposed for making a “slant-eye” pose in a photograph—a discriminatory gesture against members Asian ethnicity. Miley says the photo was meant to be a harmless joke.

But advocacy groups aren't laughing. The OCA, a national organization in the United States dedicated to advancing the social and political welfare of Asian Pacific Americans is speaking out. They have said that the image "falls within a long and unfortunate history of people mocking and denigrating individuals of Asian descent."

Sure, Miley may not have intended it to come off the way it did. But like any stereotypical statement made by someone in the limelight, Miley is not going to be able to shrug this one off, despite her apology.

Miley has had her fair share of criticism for controversial photos in the past. In April 2008, she was criticized by parenting groups after pictures surfaced of her posing in green bra. A few months later, she apologized after posing semi-nude in Vanity Fair.

While she may be outgrowing her Disney days, she is still on Hannah Montana and should perhaps think twice about what image she is projecting to her young fans.

But Miley doesn’t want to be known for this image and is speaking out about it controversy. “I really wish everyone would stop focusing on my personal life and get back to focusing on what I love! Music and Acting!” We hear ya Miley!

The press can be brutal, and CGG thinks it’s brave of her to recognize what she did and apologize. Do you think the photos were discriminatory? What should Miley do to make up for this controversy? Should she have to do anything as a celeb and a potential role model? Comment below!
