Miranda Cosgrove rocks out after school

The iCarly cutie, who, along with her cast, grabbed the Kids Choice Award for Favorite Kids’ TV Show over the weekend, loves to rock out for charity! This past week, Miranda Cosgrove's first single debuted on iTunes. But her busy schedule between filming for her show on Nick and launching her music career can’t stop her from saving some time for one thing that is really important to her: giving back.
Miranda has been a continuous supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, along with a wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. That’s not all. Just this month, the teen star devoted time at an elementary school in Harlem to spread awareness about maintaining afterschool activities across the country. Her visit was a part of the Quaker Chewy Granola Bars’ and Afterschool Alliance’s “Afterschool Rocks” campaign, which works to ensure that children have access to affordable afterschool programs.
Not only do these programs supplement the traditional school day education, but they provide an outlet for kids to let their creative juices flow! Being involved in these programs also keeps kids off the streets and helps working families.
Join Miranda to rock out for afterschool programs! As part of the "Afterschool Rocks" sweepstakes, one winner will get the chance to score a private musical performance by the teen star. What else can you do? Pick a specific afterschool cause and then create your own campaign, or check out our ongoing Battle of the Bands contest to help save music education!
