New Kids reunite and conquer!

New Kids on the Block, NKOTB, Zootopia CGG

There’s no denying that Miley was the superstar, Jonas Bros. were the heartthrobs, and Danity Kane, Simple Plan and Ferras made you sing along to their hits at the top of your lungs. But who, some of you may be wondering, were these New Kids on the Block who made your older sibs and parents go absolutely berserk during Zootopia?!

CGG, as usual, has the scoop:

Once upon a time, before ‘Nsync and Backstreet Boys, and before Jonas Brothers and Push Play, there was an internationally famous boy band called the New Kids on the Block. Five boys from Boston, these dudes made teens scream by singing, dancing and making girls beg their parents for anything and everything NKOTB, from beach towels to New Kids dolls to nightgowns, you name it.

Then the girls grew up. And NKOTB broke up. Some went on to acting (onetime “bad boy” Donnie Wahlberg, for e.g., who paved the way for his little bro, the ex-Funky Bunch member and Calvin Klein model, and now acclaimed actor Mark), reality TV (see “best dancer” Danny Wood, who was a recent standout in the much more tense, UK version of Man Band), and real estate (Jonathan Knight, a.k.a. “the quiet one”). Meanwhile, the group’s lead vocalists (“heartthrob” Jordan Knight and the youngest member, Joey McIntyre) kept singing their hearts out, albeit as solo performers and with success that paled next to what they had with New Kids.

Over the years, there have been many requests for them to reform. MTV even pursued them for the Video Music Awards. But the time was never right; Donnie reportedly wasn’t interested and Jonathan battled a shyness so debilitating that he bravely went on Oprah post-NKOTB to talk about the panic attacks he suffered in an attempt to help others like him. But now, finally, they’re back!

And they’re still hanging tough!
At Zootopia last weekend, they recruited a whole new generation of fans who, after a few songs, found themselves screaming along with their sisters and mothers!

Celebs Gone Good is about promoting causes and charities and stars’ random acts of kindness, but our mission is also simply to let you know when famous folks simply make us smile and feel happy, whether it’s because of a movie, a TV show, a song – or, in New Kids’ case, by reuniting and making us feel so good!

We personally can’t wait for the guys to come back around on their own headlining tour! Especially CGG chick Ariston, who caught Donnie's scarf in the photo pit!
