Nicole Richie and Joel Madden attended a private screening of “Playground” on June 29th. The documentary, produced by CGG fav and world hero George Clooney, is about child abuse here in America. Nicole and Joel are way into children’s issues and work with their own foundation to give all children the rights they deserve.

The film they attended, “Playground,” is much more intense than the title may suggest. It is about the child sex trade in America and sex tourism. The film tells staggering facts like US citizens account for 25% of sex tourists worldwide and as much as 80% in Latin America. Nicole is pregnant with another child and in honor of the occasion she is continuing to support child protection projects. She is also putting out a line of maternity clothes for the store “A Pea in the Pod” called “House of Harlow” after her baby girl.

Nicole and Joel are the star spokespeople for children everywhere. They are proud parents but they aren’t just looking out for their own kids—their foundation, the “Richie Madden Foundation” works to raise awareness about the domestic and international issues endangering children and inspire young people to get involved.

Ready to get involved? Every day, about four children die in the U.S. because of abuse or neglect, most of them babies or toddlers. Do something about it by supporting the Global Child Survival Act, hold a violence awareness week at your school, or create a workshop to teach parents how to keep their kids safe on the web.
