Nicole Richie's Mommy Matters

Has motherhood gone straight to Nicole Richie's heart? We think so. When she heard the shocking statistics of the need for child health care (for example, in Los Angeles alone, 400,000 children are without health care), she didn't think twice about helping out.
Nicole (and the Richie-Madden Foundation) teamed up with dynamic designer Signorelli to help out the Children's Health Fund. "Everything that has to do with children, of course, hits home. That's why we started the foundation," she told People magazine. The brand launched a new line of angel wear at Neiman Marcus, and proceeds will help to build a mobile children's clinic to bring care to disadvantaged children across America. Nicole aims to raise $400,000 for the project. Sounds like Harlow would be proud.

couldn;t she just write teh 400k check herself? i mean, if she really cared so much, why not write teh check herself?
i am sure that she and joel could afford it.
do celebrities ever write their own checks? hwo about posting an article on that? a whole story on celebs who put their money behind things. for real.
i agree, i'd love to see some stars really put some money behind what they say their passionate about.
on the other hand, there IS something to be said for creating an avenue for other people to donate money, and for using your name to raise awareness.
but still- my parents have a list of over 20 charities that they give to annually, and for father's/mother's day and birthdays we always donate in their name. if a college kid on a limited income can do it, you'd think nicole could, too.
It's great that she turned her life around and is doing stuff for other people.
