Baby Mine Nigel Barker

As promised, CGG is sending you the run-down of how British beaut Nigel Barker’s event went on Thursday at the 401 Projects gallery in Manhattan.

Nigel Barker teamed up with The Humane Society to document his trip to Canada where he photographed baby harp seals to celebrate their beauty and raise awareness of the cruel practices hunters are using to capture their fur.

Before his event, A Sealed Fate, CGG caught up with Nigel where he gave us an excusive tour and interview about his most recent work. You can check it all out on video here.

At the public event, guests were allowed to mingle with stars like Christian Siriano, Kevin Christiana, Whitney Thompson, Tatiana Ali, Gretta Monahan, and Simon Cardwell; munch on petite hors d’oeuvres; and muse over images and a film of Nigel’s journey.

Most impressively, however, was Nigel’s speech; where he revealed that the European Union Commission just sent a proposal the day before (on July 23) to ban seal products from countries that cannot prove the seals were killed humanely!! Final approval is the last step needed from the EU’s executive and legislative branches.

This action will make it much more difficult for Canadian hunters to sell the seal pelts to the 27 nations that are a part of the Union.

Therefore, Nigel’s photography is all-in-all a huge success! Congrats Nigel!!
