Nominee Profile: Donatella Versace

"Glamour," "luxury," and "posh" are some of the first words that come to mind when most people think about this Do Something With Style nominee. But would you also associate the words "philanthropy," "charity," and "fundraisers" with legendary fashion designer Donatella Versace? If not, then prepare to be surprised.
Donatella worked with the Whitney Museum of American Art to create Art Unites, a global initiative that gives inspiration to under-served children in the United States and China through visual arts. The program benefited the Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization that helps ill children and their families in the US, and the One Foundation in China, which rebuilds areas ruined by earthquakes in the Sichuan province. Donatella gave art supplies to 500 children from Starlight and 900 children from One Foundation to make "friendship" drawings. Their artworks were turned into one-of-a-kind Versace bags with proceeds split between the two organizations.
This successful designer firmly believes in giving back but will her efforts be enough to beat Tyra Banks, Nigel Barker, Christy Turlington, and Victoria Beckham? Only you can make that decision. Vote now!
