This Do Something Music Artist nominee leads a busy life as a musician and performer, but did you know that she has devoted her life to education and advocacy for the children of the world? In the last year Shakira has founded a school in her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia, and been honored by the UN's International Labour Organization for her charitable work.
Just last week, Shakira teamed up with MANGO to design a collection of shirts based on her song "Waka Waka," the theme of this year's FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The sale of these shirts will support schools in South Africa where many children are orphans or victims of war or AIDS. UNICEF and Shakira's Barefoot Foundation will be working with these schools to provide education, community, and nutrition to their students.
Shakira's been nonstop busy with kids, but can she outsing Pete Wentz, Christina Aguilera, Jonas Brothers, and Lady Gaga for Do Something Music Artist? You decide!
