Looks like Obama’s popularity with Hollywood is paying off, as an unprecedented list of A-listers have recently confirmed to attend the Democratic National Convention next month in Denver.
The socially-aware Black Eyed Peas are already scheduled to perform at the DNC gala on Aug. 27. And Hip-Hop Heavyhitters Kanye West, N.E.R.D, Wyclef Jean, and Usher are already in serious talks to perform during the Aug.25-28 event, according to the New York Daily News.
Other music moguls who are set to fly out to the Denver convention include Russell Simmons. “I’m going to the DNC to add my voice to the growing collective consciousness I believe is rising in this country,” said Simmons. “I want to add my voice to this phenomenon that I believe is this country and this world’s only salvation: the promotion of love over fear.”
Hard-core Democrat Ben Affleck and Obama-fanatic Scarlett Johansson are also expected to attend the DNC, along with superstar movie directors Quentin Tarantino, Barry Levinson, and Spike Lee.
Other red-carpet-strutters who are expected to support Obama include Susan Sarandon, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Kerry Washington, Forrest Whitaker, Josh Lucas, Rashida Jones, Tim Daly, Matthew Modine, Dana Delany, Rachel Leigh Cook, and Ed Norton—who is currently working on a documentary about the presidential hopeful.
