Party like a (green) rock star!

via askmen.com

Vanessa Carlton is an eco goddess who practices what she preaches – right down to how she throws down!

In anticipation of her voyage to the High Arctic, the frontline of climate change, with the UK-based Cape Farewell, Vanessa’s having a soiree at her New York loft. But more than the usual amount of planning has gone into this celebration. The cups are biodegradeable. The napkins are made from recycled paper. And the plates are made from a sugar-cane base, so they won’t be sitting in a landfill for decades to come.

Of course, the guest list is pretty environmentally-friendly too, from Vanessa’s animal rights activist neighbor Moby and Treehugger.com founder Graham Hill, to her fellow Cape Farewell voyagers/singers Martha Wainwright and Feist.

Cape creator/crusader David Buckland of London will also be on hand to talk about the upcoming nine-day trek in the Arctic Circle – a fantastic voyage that will also include KT Tunstall, Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker (who is keen to deejay a disco beneath the Northern Lights at the aptly named Disko Bay stop), Laurie Anderson and legendary producer Brian Eno. Buckland’s hope is that the musicians are inspired to create art after working side-by-side with scientists and oceanographers in the icebound wonderland, where temperatures are expected to be in the vicinity of a rather balmy 32 degrees.
