I'm glad she won the oscar for monster. it brought attention to a role where she wasn't a glamour queen. and it is hard to make a woman that gorgeous look that gross!
There are lots of respected women in our society. We see women as Senators, presidential candidates, doctors, surgeons, lawyers, editors and CEOs. While there are still biases, plenty of movies promote positive female role models.
