Twilight star Robert Pattinson announced that his favorite charity is the World Wildlife Fund, a worldwide organization focused on protecting nature. With his new film, Pattinson, his fans, and the WWF will be focusing on the conservation of elephants.

R-Patz will be starring in the film Water for Elephants, which is based on the New York Times bestseller by Sara Gruen. He will play Jacob Jankowski, a veterinary student taking care of animals for a circus show. Additionally, the WWF will be pushing their conversation program that works to restore natural habitats, reduce poaching, protect populations, and conduct research to enhance the lives of Asian and African elephants.

WaterForElephantsFilm.com, the unofficial fan site for his new movie, will support the WWF and its new cause by encouraging its fans to donate to the cause. In many Asian cultures, elephants are well-respected and seen as a symbol of wisdom, but their population is threatened by mass hunting and destruction of habitat. Experts estimate that there are less than 700,000 African and Asian elephants left in the world.
