Ryan Reynolds races to cure Michael J. Fox

Super-hottie Ryan Reynolds may have taken a jog down memory lane in his latest film, Definitely, Maybe; but now he’s running for a different cause.

This time, Ryan will participate in ING New York City Marathon on November 2 in honor of his father who has Parkinson’s disease, and to support Michael J. Fox who is also a victim of the disease.

And of course none of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for Michael J. Fox recently anointing Ryan as the first Celebrity Chair of Team Fox—the fundraising grassroots of the Michael J. Fox Foundation made up of hundreds of volunteers around the country. As a result, Ryan has confirmed to be a member of Michael’s team in the effort to find a cure for Parkinson’s.

“I am proud to be a part of this team of dedicated and motivated people who are getting out there and making a difference,” Ryan said. “The Michael J. Fox Foundation is doing whatever it takes to improve patients’ quality of life and deliver a cure for people living with PD, like my father.”

Michael J. Fox responds, “We’re truly grateful for Ryan joining Team Fox and for being a part of this fight. Team Fox means so much to me and to everyone at MJFF. It’s at the heart of what we’re about—making a difference in the millions of lives touched by Parkinson’s disease. We’re thrilled that Ryan is now officially a member of our team.”

Congrats to Michael and Ryan for continuing their race to cure Parkinson’s; and good luck to Ryan in the marathon!
