The lovely Sara Bareilles had the hit song of summer ‘07 with “Love Song.” Her Album “Little Voice” has since gone gold, and she is scheduled to tour with Counting Crows and Maroon 5 July through August.
It wasn’t easy to catch up with her, but CGG managed to track her down after her performance on stage at ZVillage before the Zootopia concert on Saturday to get the juice on what is her biggest issue.
What causes are you passionate about?
You know, there’s this awesome, it’s not really a foundation but an organization that a really good friend of mine started called Eve’s Rib Clothing, and it’s basically is promoting a healthy body image for women and men alike. She has amazing slogans and sayings on t-shirts and I wear her stuff all the time.
It has to do with promoting a healthy body image for women and men alike. I’m definitely someone that struggled with that and still struggles with that, and it’s a nice support network for people who struggle in that realm, and I know we all do.
So who are your female role models?
Female role models, gosh, there are so many. You know, musically it’s people like Bonnie Raitt and Joni Mitchell. I like women that have longevity in their careers and aren’t afraid to stand up for what they think and do something unique, and there’s a lot of great contemporary artists too, people like Feist and KT Tunstall. I love seeing rockin’ girls out there being unique and different and making great music at the same time.
What advice do you have for young people to make a difference in their own world?
Oh man, I just say try something. Get involved in some way. Volunteer your time and if you don’t have time, throw in some cash. Everyone has an extra 10 bucks, 20 bucks lying around, and there are amazing people who are dedicating their lives to making this world better, and we all need to help them in whatever way we can. It’s so important.

Eve's Rib is super awesome, and it's great that Sara is involved in it. The historical references on the shirts are so cool!
Did you know that part of the proceeds of all Eve's Rib's shirts goes to the National Eating disorder association? I think that's awesome.
