Sarah Silverman likes her veggies!

Sarah Silverman

Sarah Silverman does not joke about healthy school lunches. In a letter to Congressman George Miller, the comedian passionately expressed her concerns of unhealthy school food. She said, “Some of the foods we’re feeding kids in schools are repulsive — and that unhealthy food is feeding the childhood obesity epidemic.”

Celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi, and Woody Harrelson all join Sarah as she fights in support of the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010. The Act, which is sponsored by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, provides schools with more plant-based meals, fruits, and vegetables.

If celebrities can do it, then you can too! Write to your congressman and congresswoman. Support healthy school lunches. Be like Sarah and write a letter to change school menus or host your own healthy bake sale.
