Scene and Heard: Celeb Earth Day Tips

CGG caught up with bunch of our favorite celebrities who were on the scene in NYC and asked them what they were doing today to celebrate the earth and what young people on a budget can do!

Rachel Ray talked about eating green: “I think it's very easy to eat very well, and its getting more affordable. Thank God. Buy locally grown, go to farmers markets—it’s the last bargain left in food.”

Jon Bon Jovi says that for Earth Day, he’s just doing “What I do everyday.” But his advice to young people is to “Find a cause that moves you…find something that...you feel you can make a difference in, no matter how big or how small...If you want to help build a house, donate the place mats, you know? You don’t need to build the whole house.”

Star chef Mario Batali told us about his plan to go all out on Earth Day. “All of my restaurants are doing at least one dish if not an entire menu of food that took no electricity, no gas, and no energy to make except that of the human beings that made them. Go to one of them, try it out! We may not even have lights!” Try having an energy free day like Batali!

Jimmy Fallon, the can man himself, reminded us that the little things count too. “Recycle one can! That will make a difference. I’m gonna recycle a can…or plant a tree.” Go for the tree Jimmy!

We asked football stud, Chris Canty who just moved from the Dallas Cowboys to the NY Giants which team was more involved in causes. “I would have to say that the Giants do a lot for their community and giving back to the local area.” He said for Earth Day he might do something with his new team like help out at a shelter!
