Shakira's Oxford address

via People

Leave it to superstar do-gooder Shakira to school a bunch of university students. Yesterday, the Grammy-winning singer visited the uber-prestigious Oxford University in England to make a speech on the importance of education. She also talked to the students about universal access to education as a way to achieve world peace. When asked how she wants the kids of 2060 to remember the year 2010, Shakira answered: “that our mission for global piece consisted of sending 30,000 educators to Afghanistan, not 30,000 soldiers… that in 2010, world education became more important than world domination.”

Sounds like Shakira’s on a pretty serious mission! To join in, read up on education in America, then run a school supply drive to get kids the gear they need, or host a drop-out prevention summit to help kids graduate.
