Sir Elton lends support

Looks like superstar Sir Elton John doesn’t let rejection keep him from doing good. The legendary singer, who has done tons of work in the fight against AIDS, is helping out an HIV-positive Ukrainian orphan. But this isn’t just any kid – Elton and his partner David Furnish tried to adopt the little boy a few months ago (that’s him in the pic above - so cute!), but their application was rejected because they aren’t married. The couple does have a British civil union, but Ukrainian authorities refuse to recognize the union as marriage.

Not being allowed to adopt the boy hasn’t stopped Elton from doing good, and David says they’ll be supporting the child and his brother with “the best health care, education and family options available to them.” They’ll also campaign to change the Ukrainian law so that it recognizes British civil unions.
