Slumdog stars get what they were promised

Maybe people spoke too soon about the intentions of Danny Boyle, the director of the Oscar-winning and controversy stirring flick, Slumdog Millionaire. Not only has he set up a cohesive plan for the young stars Azhar and Rubina, he seems to have a plan for the entire community that gave the world such powerful insight into global poverty.
So, what’s the plan Danny? He is handing off $750,000 to the experts at Plan. Plan is an international children’s aid charity. The organization will shape a five year plan to help Azhar and Rubina as well as the other children living in the slums of Mumbai.
The money will go towards achieving the fundamental principles of the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of a Child: providing children with health and education. Danny believes that "Despite intimidating odds, extraordinary work is going on to help people break the cycle of poverty through education.”
But the fight against global poverty isn't just for the experts. You can educate your own community or school about these issues and discuss the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Then take action by joining UNICEF’s Voices of Youth platform to help improve children’s lives around the globe.
What do you think of Danny’s Plan? Is education the primary concern if the children are living in what can barely be called shacks? Join the discussion below!
