The best celeb accessory these days is not giant shades or UGG boots—it’s a pint-size-pooch! No wonder New York celebrities like Ugly Betty’s Michael Urie showed up to the 11th annual Broadway Barks event this Saturday.

Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters hosted the dog and cat adopt-a-thon benefiting NYC animal shelters and adoption agencies. The annual event that brings cute pets and celebs together is produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and sponsored by the ASPCA and Pedigree. Michael helped present pets for adoption onstage along with other stars like Ashanti and some Broadway heavy hitters. How could you say no to that pooch?

The event marked the 11th anniversary of the organization Broadway Barks whose mission is to inform New Yorkers about the plight of the thousands of homeless dogs and cats in the metropolitan area. They also help educate New Yorkers about the importance of spaying and neutering pets.

If you are still gushing over that adorable pup in the picture, go to your local animal shelter and adopt your very own! There are 4-6 million homeless pets in the U.S. in need of a good home. Between 3 and 4 million adoptable animals are euthanized in animal shelters each year simply because they do not have homes. You have the power to save a pup or kitty! What are you waiting for?
