Nelson Mandela is having quite the birthday blowout. Not only is he getting a charity concert, but Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA) and Hachette Audio have produced an audio book edition of his favorite African Folktales.
Some CGG favs have given their voice to the project…literally. Star readers include Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Whoopi Goldberg, Hugh Jackman, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, Forest Whitaker, and many others. These stars are featured in the audio book, telling ancient tales and helping to preserve a rich history.
The organizations and celebrities have teamed up to honor Nelson Mandela and help his cause. The ANSA is a nonprofit working in South Africa and the U.S. to combat HIV/AIDS, assist children orphaned by the disease, educate and empower youth, advance human rights, and build bonds between the two nations through art, culture, and the shared pursuit of social justice.
Samuel L. Jackson—an avid ANSA supporter, said that he has seen how the organization helps those in need first hand. “I’ve traveled with ANSA to rural villages and met children whose lives will be changed by this audiobook. This is our way of honoring Mr. Mandela, by assisting children who are the future of his nation and our world.” The audio book will be released tomorrow so make sure to grab your copy!
