Sunday in the park with Naomi

Rubbing shoulders with philanthropist Angelina Jolie while filming their new movie “Salt” might be the reason for Naomi Watt’s latest good deed. Whatever the cause, Naomi took her hubby Liev Schreiber and two kids to plant trees in Israel earlier this week.

The celebrity couple spent the day planting a pistachio sapling in Galilee with the Jewish National Fund—an environmental organization that has planted 240 million trees since its founding. They are working to replant trees in Israel that were destroyed in missile attacks in recent conflicts.

Why is planting trees so cool? Trees suck up CO2 and create clean air for us to breathe. A single tree will absorb a ton (that's 2000+ lbs) of CO2 over its lifetime. Considering that six football field size chunks of the Amazon are cut down every minute, planting trees is a great way to give back and help stop climate change!

Tell us what you think about Naomi’s charitable acts. Is she starting a tree planting trend? Or is it impossible to think celebs will get down and dirty for the environment? Tell us what you think—comment below!
