These alternative rockers prefer eco-friendly transport to gas guzzling limos. The Super Furry Animals’ new hit single is called “Inaugural Trams” and paints a picture of an emission free future. Gotta love these Welsh rockers who play with a purpose!

They sing about an undisclosed Utopian European city of the future where a new transportation system has just been unveiled. They have reduced emissions by 75% with their “integrated transport hub.” Oh, and did we mention that the song features Nick McCarthy from Franz Ferdinand who performs an impromptu German rap?

Super Furry front man Gruff Rhys says this of the song: “…I’m very much in favor of trams as a low-emission inner-city transport solution. The song is about commemorating the opening with a secular holiday. It’s a celebration of living with science…” The band sings of a better tomorrow.

You can celebrate mass transit with these wacky rock stars by carpooling with friends, biking, and taking the train! Think twice before you jump in a car--vehicle exhaust contributes roughly 60% of all carbon monoxide emissions nationwide, and up to 95% in cities. A lot of public transportation is run on hybrid energy—buses in many cities have gone green!

Tell us what you think! Check out their song and decide for yourself--is it the new green beat? Or are these guys just too wacky for words? Comment below!
