Thandie Newton tackles teaching

The gorgeous actress Thandie Newton is traveling across the globe to put her acting skills to good use. She’s heading to South Africa to teach little girls at Oprah Winfrey’s Leadership Academy.

The British star has roots in Africa as her mother is from Zimbabwe. And this isn’t her first trip to fulfill charitable deeds on the continent—she visited poverty stricken Mali just last year and now she’s back to teach her craft to disadvantaged South African youth.

Oprah established the academy two years ago after receiving a request from Nelson Mandela. They teach young girls ages 11 to 13 whose family income is less than $700 a month. Thandie will hold acting workshops for the girls—and who wouldn’t want to be taught by this benevolent actress who has BAFTA and SAG trophies on her shelf.
