Who wants to be a slumdog millionaire?

Who wants to be a millionaire now? Well the stars of Slumdog Millionaire, of course. The movie of the year has already raked in millions but they aren’t satisfied yet!
Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel and director Danny Boyle plan to appear on a real Who Wants to be a Millionaire show. The money they win will go to a UK based charity called Railway Children that seeks to aid homeless and runaway children around the world.
The producer of the film, Christian Colden, told the Sun “We were approached by Railway Children about doing the special — and we think it would be fantastic.”
In order to mimic the plotline of Slumdog, Railway Children wants Freida Pinto who plays Latika in the film to be the “phone a friend” option for Dev and Danny.
Who knows, maybe Dev is as good at answering questions as his character Jamal!? Hopefully he is, because the money is going to Railway Children’s campaign for early intervention: “Its about getting to the street kids before the streets get to them.” The money brought in through Dev and Danny will go to the India cause.
CGG hopes that the awareness that Slumdog Millionaire raised about the slums of India and the street children will prompt a worldwide effort to combat the many challenges these kids face. India has an estimated 11 million street children, the largest number of street children in any country in the entire world.
Railway Children’s website tells us that street children are subject the most horrific crimes such as rape, drugs, and physical abuse. The site lets you know how you can help by putting together an event or a training session of your very own!
