The eco-saints and eco-sinners of Hollywood
For NBC’s Green Week they are broadcasting green-tips from some CGG faves. These celebs ride in electric cars, hybrids, on surf boards, and on their feet around Hollywood. They live in solar powered homes and eat organic and fair trade food.
While you may not be able to live in the lap of green luxury like Tom Hanks, Bill Maher, and the other stars, you can still enjoy their small green tips like how to stop wasting water, walking instead of driving, and buying eco-friendly stuff!
But celebrities are human and do have eco-sins to confess too. KT Tunstall uses too much hairspray (aerosol is no good for the environment!) and says she is the cause of a “little hole in the ozone.” And Ben Harper has such an extensive shoe collection that his “feet have been the death of more cattle than McDonald’s.”
You can try these celeb tips or try NBC’s green tip of the day: buy organic, fair trade chocolate! Most chocolate is not fair trade or organic and buying it can mean contributing to deforestation, toxic pollution and exploitative labor practices.
Tell us your best eco-tips, eco-sins, and eco-wishes!
