The Killers latest music video is unlike anything you’ve seen before—the boys have successfully combined the power of music with a global call to action. That’s because they have partnered with UNICEF and USAID to produce a music video for their song "Goodnight, Travel Well," that shines a light on the dangers of sex trafficking.
The video is set to be released today and will premiere in 168 countries. While most young people worldwide will not see every PSA ever made, many of them will catch the latest Killers video premiere on MTV—it has the potential to reach more than 500 million households.
The video aims to raise awareness about modern day slavery—also known as human trafficking. There are more slaves today than ever before in human history, but many people are blind to this fact. The video thus aims to reveal the truth, especially about young women being forced into sex slavery. The video is the second in a new series of music video collaborations between rock stars and global aid organizations. The series launched last year with the award-winning film produced by MTV EXIT for the Radiohead single “All I Need.”
You can help The Killers bring attention to the 27 million slaves around the world by starting an awareness campaign at your school. The full video debuts today but check out this clip below and stay tuned for the full video. Tell us what you think—comment below!

It is really great thing that The Killers are shedding light on the most horrific and unbelievable crime of all time. The scary truth that 27 million slaves are present in our world today, right now, is mind blowing!
I really encourage anyone interested in the subject to read The Slave Next Door: Human Trafficking and Slavery in America Today. It’s a very powerful book that dissects the existence of modern slavery in the U.S. through first-hand accounts and shows us how to act against this awful reality. The authors are Kevin Bales, President of Free the Slaves, and Ron Soodalter a Historian and Folklorist. You can find the book on Amazon.com. Freetheslaves.net is a great place to learn more too.
Cheers to The Killers and fellow advocates. Keep raising awareness!
