Miley Cyrus’ new flick Hannah Montana: The Movie has been a box office hit, blowing the Jonas Brothers' film out of the water. Sorry Nick, but this Disney princess is moving above and beyond our wildest expectations. “My life has been on high speed,” she told Glamour magazine—her first women’s magazine cover to date.
And Miley is setting the record straight now that no, she will not end up like Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan. “I think it’s selfish to go out partying all the time.” But she admits that the expectations are high and she is bound to make mistakes—like her Vanity Fair scandal or the slit-eye photo.
When asked about her role models in Hollywood, Miley said she admires the strong, fearless woman who is “comfortable in her own skin,” like Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie. She took the opportunity to speak out about body image—something very important in the lives of her young fans.
When she's not navigating her way around Hollywood, Miley is fighting for the cancer cause. “It just kills me to see people lose someone they love, so I want to do as much as I can: give money to doctors and hospitals; get nurses in there that care; put a smile on a little kid’s face.”
Her inspiration was personal losses in her life to cancer like her grandfather and some close friends. She teamed up with the JoBros to raise money for cancer research through City of Hope—a cancer research, education, and treatment fund. Together, they raised $2.5 million through concerts.
If you’re inspired by Miley’s story, you can follow her lead by setting up a pledge wall for people to appreciate their bodies or organize a poetry slam to talk about body issues.
