CGG is pissed off at the way certain media outlets pounced on Jessica Simpson last week, showing unflattering pics of her onstage at Radio 99.9 Kiss Country’s annual Chili Cookoff in Pembroke Pines, Fla., and behaving as if the singer's new curves are the stuff of scandal. But we aren’t the only ones.
"I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight," Ashlee, 24, writes on her blog, under the subject line: Since when did a woman's weight become newsworthy. “A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure.
"All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms," she continues, "and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard." Mrs. Wentz goes on to say that she wonders if people would make the same remarks to a wife, daughter, mother, grandmother or friend, then answers her own question: "I seriously doubt it.”
“How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure."
That’s what we’re talking about, Ashlee! If anyone reading this has body issues, stop freaking out and read this right now.
Meanwhile, Jessica, who’s been insecure about her body since she was a teen, appears to be remaining positive in the face of all the negativity. While performing as the opening act for Rascal Flatts at the University of Virginia's John Paul Jones Arena, People mag reports that Jessica told the crowd: "Please remember, no matter what you go through in life, somebody else might have it harder. So just appreciate."
She added: "I feel like in our world today we focus on so many things that are completely pointless."
