The Wrestler knocks out animal abuse

Mickey Rourke's animal love is starting to rub off on his colleagues—The Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky is now involved in protesting the use and abuse of animals in circuses.
Darren, a New York native, was not happy to hear the circus was in town for the summer. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus are supposed to entertain the crowds at Coney Island all summer long but not if this director has anything to do with it. He wrote a letter of protest to the investment company—Taconic Investments—to try to get them to reconsider Ringling.
Why is this guy so against the circus? After all, isn’t the circus all fun and games? Not for the animals its not. Many circuses that use animals in their shows are in violation of the Animal Welfare Act. Ringling uses exotic animals like elephants, horses, camels, tigers and zebras in their shows and have been known to chain and beat them during training.
Mickey and Darren worked together on one of the best fighter movies of the year but they won’t stand for animal cruelty. You can join them in their fight by starting a letter-writing campaign to end the use of animals in circuses. You can even pick up your camera next time the circus is in town and make a documentary about the abuse of animals. But what do you think about the issue? Will Darren succeed in his hunt for humane entertainment? Comment below!
