Prom is just around the corner, and as you are going down the check-list, there is only one thing you really can't forget: the dress! But before you chuck away last years dress to make room in your closet for a brand new one, consider donating it to a good cause.
Between sucking blood and telling the future, our favorite fashionista vampress, Alice Cullen (aka actress Ashley Greene) from Twilight spends her time giving other girls the opportunity to attend their proms dressed in style. This past Saturday, Ashley made an appearance at Saks 5th Avenue in New York City as a spokesperson for the organization, Donate My Dress.
DonateMyDress.org encourages girls to put their one-time dresses to good use by connecting them to various local dress-drops for girls who can't afford new dresses. We all have those one-time dresses buried in the back of our closets: the beautiful outfits that hang unworn post-formal or post-prom. DonateMyDress.org ensures that those outfits will be productively re-used by other, deserving girls.
Ashley Greene got involved with the cause because she understands firsthand how costly these fancy dresses can be. She told twilightersanonymous.com, “I bought [my prom dress] myself because my mom was like, ‘I’m not paying for that’." So she started working to earn money for a dress.
She decided to work as a spokesperson for DonateMyDress.org because “if donating my dresses can give someone else the same feeling I once had, it’s completely worth it.” Needless to say, Ashley is a grounded, smart vampress who understands the value of money, and wants all girls to experience the magical prom party they deserve.
