The legendary Tiger Woods will tee off at the “Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge” in New York on August 24 to support youth sports and wellness programs for Native Americans in New Mexico and other states. Maybe the next Tiger Woods will come out of the program!

The golf challenge is a one-day event hosted by Notah Begay III who is the only full-blooded Native American on the PGA Tour. Tiger Woods has some personal ties to the event--Did you know that Notah was his roommate at Stanford or that the Tiger is part Native American himself?

Tiger’s participation will help raise funds for sustainable sports programs including soccer and golf--his favorite sport. The foundation works to empower the Native American community. While formal equality has been legally granted, Native Americans continue to be marginalized in this country.

Get active like Tiger this summer! The health benefits of exercise are priceless and necessary in this country where more than one in five children are overweight. You can give back to young people too by helping a youth team or an after school program in your town.
