will.i.am: end poverty "In My Name"

The United Nations General Assembly is meeting in New York this week to renew their commitment to achieving the eight Millennium goals by 2015. They're tackling a host of global issues: end global poverty, achieve a global partnership for development, achieve universal education, promote gender equality, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, ensure environmental sustainability, and combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases.

And so far there have been great strides. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has announced new pledges of aid totaling $16 billion! Caring celebs have been there right alongside the heads of state and diplomats to contribute their voices.

And boy, what beautiful voices. Thursday, Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am premiered his new song “In My Name,” sung with Angelique Kidjo, at the United Nations in an event hosted by Oxfam. The song calls upon global leaders to end poverty.

And in case you missed the performance, you can check out the beautiful video above. Will.i.am rallied up a host of celeb friends to participate including Fergie, Scarlett Johansson, Wyclef Jean, Kristen Davis, John Legend, Annie Lennox, and more.
