Wyclef Jean for Vice President?!

Wyclef Jean image

“Barack Obama for President! Wyclef for vice president!”

That was Wyclef Jean reworking "If I Was President" for a big bash thrown by the Sundance Channel and Grey Goose Entertainment in New York last night to celebrate their new season of the network's "Iconoclasts." The series brings together two creative visionaries to discuss their lives and influences, and upcoming matches include Cameron Diaz with architect Cameron Sinclair, and Wyclef Jean with Venus Williams.

Working a crowd that included Cee-lo, Penn Badgley, and Tony Hawk, Wyclef sang hits "Gone Till November" and "Dance Like This" -- and played the guitar with his teeth!

You have to hand it to Wyclef: The super busy artist/producer/guitar-string flosser dedicates so much of his limited free time to making a positive difference. For starters, he has his foundation, Yéle Haiti, which aims to create long term change in Haiti through small projects. And just recently, Clef recruited Matt Damon to accompany him to the Caribbean to help deliver food to victims of Hurricane Ike in conjunction with the Haiti Storm Relief Fund.

CGG caught up with this humanitarian hero before he took the stage to find out the secret to how he manages to do so much.

“The most important thing is you have to make time for what’s important to you,” he says. “And helping people is the most important thing. You find time to watch TV, right? You have to find time to do this.”

If Wyclef can find the time, you have no excuse. Way to go!

Wyclef is awesome. I think he seems like someone who is really committed to the stuff he does--not just getting his name out there.

Wyclef has the best music. It's so amazing that he gives back to his country.

That's so true -- if you can find time to watch TV, you can make the time to Do Something. Wyclef, you rule!

"Gone Till November" seems to take on a lot more meaning to me as a song.

I was wondering when Wyclef was going to jump in on the election hype. His music is so political and "danceable" all in one!
