Yes, yes, yes to safe sex!

via The Body Shop
Do Something and CGG have been keeping you up to date on everything from Earth Day awareness with Green the White House to genocide prevention with the Rwanda Remembrance info and celeb video. But did you know April is also Sexually Transmitted Disease Awareness month? Don’t worry, Solange Knowles has it covered. Phew!
Beyonce’s little sis has taken a page out of her book and is getting involved with a new cause! Solange joined The Body Shop and MTV to kick off their "Yes, Yes, Yes to safe sex" campaign on Tuesday. She spent the afternoon in SoHo NYC answering safe sex questions from her fans and launching the new campaign.
The campaign raises awareness about HIV and AIDS and STDs. The Body Shop will donate $5 from every purchase of their new Tantalizing Lip Butter (which costs $8) to the Staying Alive Foundation. Pucker up and fight for the cause!
Why this cause Solange? Other than it being STD awareness month, STDs and teen pregnancies are on this rise in this country among young people. It is hard to believe it, and most young people assume these afflictions only affect people off in some distant land like Africa but not the United States of America. But more than 7,400 people become infected with HIV every day, from all around the world.
You can help Solange by learning more about safe sex. In honor of STD Awareness Month you could get tested, and even organize an info session in your school about safe sex. Also, read about this awesome Do Something Finalist whose own life experience motivated her to raise awareness.
