Celebs Gone Good

Jerry and Jessica get serious for good

via Hollywood Gossip

Funnyman Jerry Seinfeld and wife Jessica want you to help out deserving families by dusting off and donating unused baby gear. From December 3rd – 5th, the comedic couple will host an NYC event for their organization Baby Buggy. Called the Love, Recycled Critical Gear Drive, they’ll collect donations of new and gently used strollers, high chairs, and other baby gear, which will then go to help NYC families who otherwise couldn’t afford these essential items.

If you’re in the NYC area be sure to ask your parents to dig up that old baby gear and donate it to this worthwhile cause - check out the Baby Buggy website for the details. Not in NYC? You can still help out – organize your own baby gear drive at your school or community center, then donate the items you collect to your local family shelter.

Kim Kardashian - boxer?

via Splash News

Would you fight your favorite star for charity? Some fans got to do just that, when they boxed against reality TV star Kim Kardashian, little brother Rob, and stepdad Bruce Jenner. The boxing matches, held at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, California, were part of a charity auction to benefit the Dream Foundation, an organization that grants wishes to adults who are battling life-threatening illnesses. Auction winners got to square off against the famous family, with the rest of the Kardashians cheering on from ring-side. Before the event Kim Tweeted: “About to start boxing! In my physical! I’m sooo scared!!!!” Despite her cute pink outfit, Kim went down after a few punches.

Celebs carol for their cause

via iMusic Daily

Some big-name stars are singing for their cause. Friend of CGG Sean Kingston, Miley Cyrus, Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams, American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler, and Ashley Tisdale are just some of the big names who will sing classic Christmas tunes on A Very Special Christmas 7. Out on November 23, the album will raise money for the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics is an event held every two years that lets kids and adults with intellectual disabilities train and compete in 30 Olympic sports.

We love the idea of artists collaborating for good! So make like Miley and host a concert or an art show, and then donate the proceeds to the Special Olympics. And while you’re at it, read up on the terms you should know about disabilities. And of course, be sure to buy the album when it comes out! It would make a great gift.

Celebs run for good

via NY Road Runners

Would you go 26.2 miles for your cause? This weekend some celebs did just that, running the New York City Marathon to raise money for their cause. The Incredible Hulk star Edward Norton, singer Alanis Morrisette, and X Games host Sal Maseleka are some of the big names who hit the pavement and raised some cash. Ed and Alanis raised over $300,00 for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, which protects habitat and wildlife in Kenya, while Sal raised over $70,000 for his org, Stoked, which mentors at-risk and disadvantaged youth through sports like surfing and skateboarding. As Sal exclusively tells CGG, “running the NYC Marathon was the biggest slice of humble pie I’ve ever eaten!”

We love the idea of celebs breaking a sweat for their favorite cause. What’s yours? Whether it’s the environment or healthy living, we have the info you need to take action! And be sure to check out the websites of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust and Stoked for full post-run recaps.

- Rihanna, in her first interview since former boyfriend Chris Brown was convicted of assaulting her in February. The interview with Diane Sawyer will air this week on Good Morning America.

Quote of the day: Michelle Obama

via AP

“Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, who are you as a person? Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart, look at the soul. When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good. You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole.”

- First Lady Michelle Obama in the new issue of Glamour Magazine. She's known for her love of health and fitness, so make like Michelle and read our info on organic living.

David does good

via Americanidol.com

Friend of CGG David Archuleta is about give some needy people a little TLC. The American Idol runner-up and his organization, Angels for a Cause, have teamed up with the Lisa Lopes Foundation to raise $10,000 to launch a new medical center in Honduras. The Lisa Lopes Foundation is named after the late TLC singer Lisa Lopes, who died in 2002, and who always dreamed of opening educational and medical centers.

Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America as well as having the highest HIV/AIDS rates, and an estimated 1.5 million citizens lack access to health care. The country is also undergoing serious political unrest, and has been accused of denying basic human rights to its citizens. Here in America, over 300,000 deaths a year are caused by poor nutrition and a lack of physical activity. Read more about healthy living, and then take action! You could create a healthy cookbook to sell for your cause, or organize a benefit concert and donate the proceeds.
